I’m a mom located in the Austin, TX area. I bake to help pay my daughter’s medical bills and make tummies happy!
My husband and I have been blessed with a sweet little girl. She was born a preemie, 2.5 months early. After a very scary 2 months in the NICU, she was able to come home with us. Being born so young has brought on quite a lot of challenges for her. Some of the biggest are cerebral palsy, gross motor delays, fine motor delays, vision issues, feeding aversions and benign paroxysmal torticollis (intermittent head tilt which affects her use of muscles and balance).
She is so strong and has worked tirelessly to overcome these challenges. She has therapy sessions across physical, occupational and feeding therapy and is monitored closely by specialists (neurologist, gastroenterologist, ophthalmologist) and her pediatrician. She wears leg braces all day that need to be replaced regularly due to her growth, and uses a walker to help support her while learning to walk. Every day she practices her therapy exercises as much as possible and is so motivated to move! She recently started taking steps and we are SO proud of her. We’re currently working on getting into a standing position, maintaining balance and building strength towards walking.
Her continuous medical needs are quite a high expense. These include her braces and walker that need to be replaced as she grows, her therapy and doctor visits, and two major surgeries that her neuro-surgeon will perform to help her spasticity (uncontrolled tightness) in her legs. By selling these baked goods, I’m hoping to be able to continue to afford the help that she needs.
We first and foremost ask for your prayers over her and the doctors. And secondly we ask that you support us by satisfying your sweet tooth with our sweets! If you’d like to make a donation without indulging in some sweets, please email RouxSweet@gmail.com for information.
Thank you for supporting us!
